On Tuesday, 4 February 2025, the Prague City Hall opened the Grant of Prague exhibition at Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed, which was created on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Czech Press Photo competition. A unique view of the metropolisThe Prague Grant is part of the second main prize awarded annually \u2013 it is a one-year creative grant to monitor the transformation of Prague. The award-winning author is personally selected by the Mayor of Prague on the recommendation of an international jury and thanks to the resulting photographs the capital gains a unique view of the metropolis captured from various thematic angles and its shape over time. The exhibition was created in cooperation with Czech Photo, and the authors of the individual photographs are renowned Czech photographers. It will be on display on Marian Square on a total of 16 panels until the end of February. \u201cPhotography is actually an extremely powerful phenomenon. How many human lives have they delighted, mended, improved, changed and probably destroyed. They are memories, art, reminders, a source of entertainment. Czech Press Photo is a competition where it is very difficult to award the best of the best Czech photographers. For thirty years, Prague has participated economically in the organisation of the competition and in the selection of the winning images. On 16 panels, people will be able to see individual photographs that have monitored the transformation of Prague in the past years. These are photographs of individual Prague Grant winners over the past 30 years, accompanied by the theme and other context.
